In Winters Snow Globe (Villanelle)

In Winters Snow Globe (Villanelle)

A Poem by SheWolfNLust

A winter scene globe fills rivulets of snow

their silver gemstones wispy in their flight

such loveliness to see, look high and low

Pines enrobed in white, an eloquent show

as snow-crystals strobe lights into the night

A winter Scene globe fills rivulets of snow

Smoke from a cabin, beauty to bestow

a quiet night now, stars twinkle so bright

such loveliness to see, look high and low

Never-ending the months as time is slow

without any footprints to view in sight

a winter scene globe fills rivulets of snow

In this magical time, dreams long ago

so gently flakes lay on ground ever slight

such loveliness to see, look high and low

Soft moonlight turns each tiny flake aglow

airy and weightless, as defined outright

a winter scene globe fills rivulets of snow

such loveliness to see, look high and low.

Author's Note

SheWolfNLust
A Villanelle is a nineteen-line poem consisting of a very specific rhyming scheme: aba aba aba aba aba abaa.

The first and the third lines in the first stanza are repeated in alternating order throughout the poem, and appear together in the last couplet (last two lines).

One of the most famous Villanelle is "Do not go Gentle into that Good Night" by Dylan Thomas.

Debbie, this is just superb. I actually couldn't tell whether you had placed yourself within the ubiquitous snowglobe paperweight we are all familiar with, or were analogizing the perfection of the winter scene you were caught in to a snowglobe! The point is, it doesn't matter! Your imagery was just that perfect!
P>S> Just looked at this again, and find myself slackjawed yet once more, first, at its subtle beauty, and second, that MINE WAS THE ONLY REVIEW IT GARNERED!!! Come ON, people, you're missing great stuff here!
