Suffocate

Suffocate

A Poem by SheActsLikeSummer
"

It grabs me, hands tightening around my neck...

"
It grabs me
Hands tightening
Around my neck

Clasping my throat
Can't breathe
Gasp for air

Try to claw them away
Reaching up
Grabbing for the hands

But to no avail
It's too strong
Can't hold it off

Pressure heightens
Nails pierce skin
Drawing blood

A river of red
Gushes
Drips down my neck

My vision wavers
Loosing my grip
On reality

One last effort
I fling up my arms
But I'm unsteady, weak

So I give up
Let the darkness
Blur my vision

Close my eyes
Clench my jar
Hold back the tears

I read this and thought of someone slowly, inexorably dying inside. trying deperately to cling to what's real, then eventually succumbing to the overwhelming darkness. I read this...and thought of me.

canfeel the panic of the feeling so vividly in your words. Intense and wonderfully done.

I wish there was a single moment in my life that summed up who I am. Just a short snippet of time that I could copy and paste here so I didn't have to rack my mind for something to say. But I kind of .. more..
