Ode to the TreeA Poem by SheActsLikeSummerYou rise from the ground...You rise from the ground Strong roots digging into the earth Catching hold of the rocks The dirt Firmly submerged beneath the surface And you beg Beg for the soil To cling on and never let go And then you grow Your arms reaching Past the blue skies The clouds rolling in the distance You reach into the heavens Branches dancing as the wind Drifts through your leaves In a joyful sensation Creeping up through your branches Sifting between the indentations Of your bark And then it settles Deep in your thick trunk Hidden in your soul And when that feeling kicks in Becomes utterly overwhelming You repay us of our carbon dioxide Let out a bellowing breath Exhaling our most needed, Oxygen © 2012 SheActsLikeSummerAuthor's Note
