RiseA Poem by SheActsLikeSummer
Bed of ashes
Sky of grey. Fire rules over the living. Nowhere to hide and no place to run. With each cloud of darkness that forms overhead the small flicker of hope dissolves into thin air. But a tiny spark remains. And all it takes to turn that into a blazing fire is pause. In a split second hope returns. Clouds stand still then flee, blue peaking out from an otherwise dark sky. It's an agitated rabbit small and anxious but this is the time the moment the only one it will get, The blue pushes free. Ash is picked up by the wind sent spiraling into unknown. Fires die down singed grass grows sun emerges with the blue. And as the final spark is put out I get up from my place on the ground. With the trees and the flowers and the grass and the sun I rise. Like a bird first taking flight I rise.
