A Friend

A Friend

A Poem by Shay33

You remember

The angry walls

Closing in,

Crushing you to

Pieces,

Without the least bit

Of hesitation,

Don't you?

Spreading branches

Intertwined

Cracking as they reached

To the sky

(As if it could be touched)

Will brittle but eager arms.

Our feel smothered

In white mist

As we stood ankle-deep

In one of those billowing clouds,

Only inches from the sun

(Or so it seemed)

Reaching for it

With our eager arms.

Only yesterday

We were absorbing the

Sun's rays,

Sinking slowly

Into the soft earth

As our skin soaked up the rays

And became denser,

Slightly denser.

But now,

Those walls will continue

To move in,

Intent on erasing our

Memories.

But let them.

Those walls will absorb you,

Until they are heavy

With your memories and

Thoughts and

Sun-drenched skin.

If they could talk,

They would tell me to move on,

To show someone else

The magic

That you

Showed

Me.
