Lie to me

Lie to me

A Poem by Shayne Winchester
"

This poem was inspired by the song 'Just a Dream' by Carrie Underwood. :)

"

I hold your flowers close to my heart

The warmth we share, almost tangible

We will be forever

Just like you promised

All those nights ago

When we sat on the hood of your car

You leaned close to me

And whispered to me your secrets

You said, "We'll be forever..

Because I'll never leave you."

And I pressed back into you

And gave you my heart

When I picture you now

Lying in your bed, asleep

I can almost imagine you

Dead, never to wake again

The thought haunts me every day

Because I know it's true

I look at you in your eternal bed

Every day, I'll visit you

I kneel by your name

Engraved on a rock

And every day, I think of that first night

And every day, I give you my heart again

Sad, very sad. You have a good style that's interesting. You also paint the image for us to see through your words with deep thought. Nice job.
