Dying in the Flowers

Dying in the Flowers

A Poem by Shayne Winchester
"

Okay, so this poem was inspired by a picture that I found, which you can see.

"

Never say you own my heart

Never say you love me

Kiss me once, kiss me twice

And never will you doubt me

I lay in my field, my head on the ground

And listen to the earth shake

I hear the screams, I hear the shrieks

And the fire all-consuming

My visions blurs, the colours dance

I see your face before me

A pool of blood before my death

The ground stained with my glory

My legacy lives in these flowers

My soul, my heart, my life

And in these flowers, my life goes on

To watch you and protect you

Now I know you own my heart

Now I know you love me

A glassy tear rolls down my cheek

And darkness doth consume me

Shayne Winchester
So I used the word doth, because I couldn't really think of anything that would fit what I needed right there. Don't hate. ^^

I am shocked this has not been reviewed before! This is a very worthy write. I'm not sure it reflects the picture but it stands on it's own. Made me think of a life lost in the civil war. BTW no shame in being prompted by a picture and doth works well.
