It was a beautiful spring day where the air was fresh and the birds were singing and you can hear the children outside playing in the streets, sounded like they were playing tag or something as she sat at the table sipping on her hot coffee she was remembering. Remembering her late husband and all the good times they had had together and all the laughs she shared with him but now he was no longer there in her life. She was now a widow in her mid-40’s and trying to live a full life with two adult children and three grandchildren she said she must get herself together. As she sat at the table a thought came to her mind, “How long am I going to grieve for him, it is time for me to move on with my life”. With that though she said to herself “it’s time for the next chapter of my life I have grieved enough and I am ready to move forward. So she finished her coffee and got up from the table to be interrupted by the phone ringing, it was her daughter on the other line, glad to hear from her she said “how are you doing sweetie I was thinking about you and my grandson earlier this morning”?  Her daughter said, “Mama I was just sitting her thinking about you and wanted to call you and tell you that you need to get out of that house and do something or met someone, Daddy would not have wanted you to live like this! You got to move on with your life, she stated with a bit of sarcastic humor in her. Well I said I understand what you are trying to do but I thought earlier this morning about moving on but I have to do this at my own pace in my own way, it is time for me to turn to the next chapter of my life (she laughed as she said this). As she continue to talk with her daughter about her grandson and the fact he missed his grandmother and wanted to come and see her so she agreed to see him that afternoon because she had some appointments to go to and some errands to run. The good thing about that was her daughter lived only twenty minutes away so it was no big rush to get home to meet them. She loved her grandchildren because they were the reason that she was able to continue living just to be with them, they gave her hope for a better future.

As she straighten up her kitchen and put away her dishes she decided to get on her computer to research the option of using online dating websites to meet someone. This was something she had never done before and was a little skeptical about doing it because she heard some good and bad things about online dating but she thought she would give it a try being that she doesn’t get out much to meet someone. When she founded a site she was interested in she proceed to register by filling out a profile about herself and she thought “what’s in my life that is interesting enough to share with someone else”?  As she thought to herself to give some thought to what she would say, she laughed at herself for thinking that she would dare meet someone that would become interested in her. So she said to herself I will give this a try for three months and see where it takes me if it does not work then I have lost nothing and I am satisfied on the regular meet him at the mall type of thing. As she filled out her profile she was bluntly honest about herself and she shared in detail what she wanted in her matched companion. She stated: “I would like a man who has integrity and who is faithful and loving, someone who is very romantic and compassionated. Someone who loves to take long walks and watch the movies be it at home or the theater, but most of all a man after God’s heart! She was not trying to scare off no one but she was a woman of faith and she needed someone who had the values as she did. As she was finishing filling out her profile it came time to upload a photo of herself, she thought to herself this is going to be interesting because she knew that she did not look the way she used to. Since her husband death she had gain over 80 lbs to her already large frame and she was not confident enough in herself to show what she looked like to others. Well she thought I must have a picture here that I can use until I lose some more weight so no one can see me like this, and as she looked through some old photos she found a picture that her husband kept of her in his wallet when she was much smaller and much younger. So she scanned up the photo and placed it on her profile and said she would later explain to anyone who may show interest in her how she look and why she did not place a recent photo of herself.

She was now finished with her online dating sites profile because she had join two more sites so she would have a better chance of meeting someone. As she got dress to go to her hair appointment she thought of her best friend Avery Smith, someone who had been there for her during her rocky marriage and during her restoration but most importantly during the death of her husband. She was a true friend that could be depended on, someone who would give her encouraging words and come and see about her, she was there when she was sick and near death herself she could not have prayed for a better friend.

She called Avery on her cell phone and said: “Hello Avery what are you doing today”?

Avery: “Hey Charity girl you are going to live a long time I was just about to call you”!

Charity: “So girl what is up, I am here at the salon getting my hair done and wanted to know would you like to do lunch today at the Olive Garden”!

Avery: “Girl that sounds wonderful what time would you like to meet because I have something to talk with you about. It is this guy named Sheldon, I met him online from one of those dating sites and he is amazing and so handsome, I think he could be the one”!

Charity: “Are you serious, girl we must talk because I have to get your opinion on something I decided to do today, so I will see you at 1 pm today for lunch okay”!

Avery: “ok, girl I will see you then”! (They both hang up!)

Charity thinking to herself “wow I just join some of those online dating sites and my best friend has found someone special already, is this a coincidence because this is going to be an interesting lunch”! As Charity finished getting her hair done she couldn’t help but wonder what Avery might think when she share with her about joining some online dating sites, and her relationship with this man named Sheldon whom she met online. She was starting to wonder was this a real relationship or a short term hookup because Avery had had her shared of failed relationships with men she had met. Charity had a lot of questions to ask Avery about online dating and she was bracing herself to get Avery’s perspectives about it. She was even ready to share with her daughter about her decision to meet someone online but what would they say when she tells them!
