I’m sorry you found out that way,

But you really had to know,

I’m sorry I couldn’t sit and stay,

We both just needed to grow.

 

I planned to tell you later,

Closer to our last day,

I'm sorry the pain in your heart is greater,

But maybe you’re better off this way.

 

If I could turn back the heads of time,

Believe me, I definitely would,

If I could take us back in time,

I'm sorry; I wish I could.

 

We've had our various ups and downs,

A lot of laughs and a million frowns,

In retrospect, it wouldn’t make sense if I time-travelled,

Because even before then, the strings of our friendship had already started to unravel.

 

I'm not trying to make excuses,

I'm not trying to patronize you,

It was clear that you would lose this,

I'm just sorry I wasn’t the one who told you.
