Chapter 2A Chapter by Shawn Riley
Chloee stayed with me while we were waiting for Code Team to come help me.
"I'm so sorry about Eric, Dan" Chloee said. "It's alright, it's not your fault" I replied almost instantly. "I don't know what makes him think he can do that," Chloee said. She put her hand on my thigh. Chills instantly shot through me. How could this be happening. The most popular and prettiest girl in school now had her hand on my thigh. I turned to look at her; I found her looking back at me. She had the most beautiful amber eyes I had ever seen. I kept looking at them, they seemed to comfort me every time I looked in them. I felt safe looking into her eyes. Her look melted me like butter, and I wish she was mine. Chloee turned her face sharply, almost like she was embarrassed. As soon as Code Team came, she returned back to class. Code Team are members of the Health Occupation 2 class. They are trained First Responders and they are working on their CNA certifications. Essentially, they are the school nurses. They started asking me questions, and I answered them. My mind was on Chloee though. Did we really have that moment? Did she see in me what I saw in her? The more I though about her the more I fell in love with her, although deep down I knew that no one could love me. I stayed in the Code Room for the remainder of class. I had whacked my head pretty hard when I tackled Eric. My neck also hurt from the force of being pushed out of me seat. I knew almost instantly that I was going to be dead for sending Eric to the office. His plan to get me in trouble backfired and I knew he was mad. As soon as the bell for lunch rang, I left the Code Room to go to lunch. I bought a drink for lunch, that's all I needed. My family sleeps most of the day. My mother and older siblings wake up when the sun sets. We eat breakfast, usually bacon and eggs, and get ready for the "day." My parents own a movie theater that has a arcade, bowling alley, and a pizza and ice cream parlor. It is open 24 hours, but no one ever comes in after midnight. We have the whole place to ourselves. My father is the only one that cannot stay up the whole night. He usually stays up until midnight and then leave to go to bed. He is up by 6:00 in the morning. The rest of us stay out all night, and then at 6:00 when the sun comes up, we go to bed. This makes school kinda difficult. We only get 3 hours of sleep before going to school, but by now we are all used to it. I go to sit with the drama kids in the drama room. We are usually secluded from everyone else because we don't act like the rest of the world. We don't care what anyone things and we don't care what we say. Jordyn usually doesn't sit with us; he's usually out with Robyn getting lunch from somewhere. I go sit by Tarrah, Melissa, and Jaycin. They have slowly became my best friends since Jordyn doesn't do anything with us anymore because Robyn takes him away from us. Melissa and Robyn used to be best friends, but they got in a huge fight and now Robyn won't talk to Melissa. I used to not sit with the drama kids. Last year I was dated Andrea. We were both seniors. We were the best of friends. After graduation, everything changed between us. She went to Idaho for the summer to live with her dad. It killed us to be apart. She came home early to see me. After that, everything changed between us. We got in our first fight and after, we ended things. She now has changed her plans of becoming a engineer; she has dropped out of school to marry a guy that works as a bus boy at the restaurant she works at. Most of the friends liked her more, so naturally, they were her side, so they all left me. Jaycin asked me what I did to my head. I told him and the others the story. They all looked like they wanted to kill Eric. I told them all to just let it pass. They grudgingly agreed. We sat talking and eating our meals for the rest of lunch. When the bell rang we all moved into the choir room for choir class. Our teacher Mrs. Krabb is our teacher. Every one in class knows not to get on her bad side. She says she doesn't pick favorites, but in fact, the drama kids are her favorite. Everyone can tell. I am president of the choir, and all my assistants are also drama kids. She loves us to death. She hardly ever gets mad at us. She gets mad at the jocks that disrupt class to tell everyone how cool they are or to show off. In fact, it makes most of the class mad. I took my usual seat in the tenor section next to Jordyn and Jaycin. We are the best of friends in this class. I look over to the bass section and notice Eric glaring at me. I totally forgot he was in this class. I thought for sure I would be dead after this class. Sitting in front of me is Brad. He has an amazing voice, and he is an amazing actor. Hardly anyone like him though, because he is gay. I find myself accepting outcasts of the school, probably because I am one. I look over to the alto section to see Chloee sitting there talking to her friends. Her hair falls in curls perfectly along her back and down her shoulders. How could a girl so perfect be with a guy that is so horrible. After class, we all stack our chairs up. My next class in English, and I know Eric will be following me. I go talk to Mrs. Krabb and the rest of the drama kids about the spring musical to delay time. Two minutes later I decide to leave. I go out the back end of the class to the doors leading outside. I push the doors open and walk out into the beautiful summer air. Eric must of known I would go out this way, because he was waiting for me, along with the rest of the football team. © 2010 Shawn Riley |
