Chapter 8: An Old World

The glint of the great wars forgotten machinery nearly blinds you, as you push through the dusty interior of the factory. Broken machine parts lay scattered across the floor, as you follow the trail of foot prints on the dusty concrete floor. You stealthily slide through a large hole in the wall as you branch away from the footprints. The sounds of voices softly echo through the factory's interior. Slowly you climb a fallen walkway which leads above the factory's assembly and research areas. The shaky metal grating under your feet shutters with every step you take toward the voices below.
“The colonel needs this, he specifically said to grab the prototypes like the arm lance and liquid armor.”  Says a lighter voice in the room ahead of you.
“We have trucks full of things like that, the shielding system is way more important to battle against these rebellious rats.” says a commanding voice.
“But sir the colonel said nothing about the old shielding system we have a functioning one presently.” says the light voice rebelliously to his commanding officer.
“ You heathen, our present shields merely replaced these. If we have any chance of recovery versus these beasts and rebels we need these larger infantry shields.”  yells the commanding voice.
Slowly you hesitantly creep closer to the room ahead on the creaking iron walkway. Suddenly one of the support beams held to the ceiling collapses, plunging you into a pile of ammunition below. Voices sound from the other room curious of the sound. Quickly you recover from the fall into the pile and slide across the room, positioning yourself behind some large wooden crates. You carefully creep toward a grate leading into the room the voices are. The large wooden door leading to the fallen walkway creaks open as the soldiers investigate the loud noise. Silently you unhook the grate leading behind the officers and move into what looks like a science research room. Slowly the officers creep into the walkway room and realize the walkway must have just collapsed due to its neglected state. Quickly sprinting around a large iron assembly table you rush behind the larger officer knife drawn. Grabbing the man by the neck you demand the other officer to toss his gun on the ground.
“Don't do it Fischer, he will kill us both!” Says the commanding officer before getting an increased pressure on his neck.
“ I'm sorry sir” he says before dropping his pistol and sliding it to you left foot.
You quickly raise your knife before tossing it into the leg of the smaller officer rendering him immobile and in shock. Then you toss the officer held by the neck into a pillar head first before dragging both men onto the iron tables next to you. Disarmed and shocked, both officers struggle to break your iron grip. Slowly you grab both officers by the arms and walk towards an empty rail cart in the supply transport wing next door. Throwing both men in, you quickly slam the iron clad door behind them. The sound of the slamming door echos throughout the empty factory interior as you stride back to the science research room.
Slowly you browse the scientific gems around you which harbor the last technology the Nazis produced before the collapse. Slowly you stroll observing the details of the equipment before picking up an pile of organized notes the officers collected. The notes detail many ridiculous machines that aren't located anywhere in the room but the last page you filter through is strange it is written not by the Nazi science commission but the American war time research team. Simply stating the machine in front of you can pull together particles so close that the armor its gets condensed into is nearly impenetrably.
The setting sun glints through the factories rectangular windows as you put the final prime the machines film condenser. Slowly you disrobe and approach the arched machine. A strange black liquid floats suspended in the center laying almost as a sheet. Picking up and attaching the implant safety helmet you approach the film chest first as you push through the film your skin shivers from the dark liquid it attaches to. Making your way all the way through the film you feel the light film coat the last of your body. Suddenly the film no longer feels liquid, it seems to almost hover above your skin. The handbooks points vaguely to another machine across room sitting untouched by nature. The silver pod sits with its large doors sealed waiting for its next challenger to approach.
After struggling to comprehend the pods manual for hours, you finally get the last step of priming the machine completed as the darkness around the factory grows. Scratches against the solid concrete walls weren't uncommon while you studied the manual with you flashlight in hand. As Press you down the last lever along the base of the machine it glows blue before its door shoot open. Stepping into the machine you notice the commands within glow dark blue illuminating the otherwise pitch black interior. Cries ring out from the supply transport wing, as you step out of the dark blue machine. Grabbing your flashlight and pistol, you  approach the door.
"I guess its time to test this armor out." You say hesitantly
