Suffering In Knowing

Suffering In Knowing

A Poem by Shawn Crider
"

Ignorance is bliss

"

We would rather live in that warm winter cafe scene,
With smiling teens and hot cocoa,
Comfortable with being typical, but typically we ignore the dreams,
Ignorance watched from behind a window with envy heavy on its eyes,
Ignored by every organism, except you and I.

It was pity at first sight, when we joined it by the window.
Chuckling at the youth, couldn't see that their blind,
Hearts warm like stars, blood flowing like wine,
Teeth whiter than the snow that fell from the sky,
It was ignorance and I watching our reflection,
We are too young to die, in them is resurrection.

We would rather you join us. Stop fighting a cause,
Cast down your arms and embrace the grip of mine,
Before the last straw is drawn and you're out of time,
You're too inside your mind to feel the outside,
We are home, we are real and we are not,
We are without thought but always with action,
So please grab your coat and make your way out the door,
Now the cafe is empty and everybody staring at a window.
