Social Woes

Social Woes

A Poem by Shawn Crider
"

Deals with transition, different phases in life.

"

Radio head, yet you sound more like radio.
That's a little arrogant,
A little depiction of tolerated misfits at a party,
Warming the couch waiting for nobody,
Occupying the phone even though no one is calling; or texting,
Damn how can you not get the message?

Alone at the party surrounded by bodies,
Zombies are walking looking for brains,
Pain filled anxiety, dance moves are parkisans with earthquakes moving apartments,
No need to raise the roof when you stay at ground level,
That's low tide you sea shells!
Low tide with arched brows and loose smiles,
No tiles on the floor in our club house,
Poor mouth but smart phones,
Broken home with fixed addictions,
No father that's the norm in society...

Break walls to have fun, kick doors to get in,
Friends when did you become strangers?
Where did we get off the boat at graduation,
Farewell good times and hello bills,
No more thrill seeking, no more parties, no more hanging out until mom calls,
Its time you grow up.
