Excuse Him

Excuse Him

A Poem by Shawn Crider
"

Its sarcastic. Knowing humility in a way and mocking that.

"

Excuse Him

Please,
Forgive me first my confidence,
I am sorry that I can't be as sorry as others,
Still, I suppose one leaf from a tree doesn't disrupt fall,
I acknowledged your presence; now, entertain me,
Showcase that background from the streets and describe all the obstacles you beat,
Humility hides in secret but no concealing any hint,
Please acknowledge me not trying to pass judgement,
For Christ sake I'm not God...I just proclaim to be,
So of course continue with how you operate in certain venues; compare and contrast,
Why hell, share a laugh you should feel free to do so with your troubled background,
What?
Me, mocking?
Of course not, I would not want to offend whatever situation you were in as if I already heard it,
Now do not get discouraged by me,
For what is a silly writer know?
Do I look like Socrates or Plato,
How can I relate to poverty?
Murder, injustice, government scandal to name a few,
Disclosed to worthy praise yet, somehow we all knew,
Someway we become the environment and that old adage of being influenced by it cease to exist,
Like a subtle whisp of wind,
I appreciate how much you have shared but the difference I cannot distinguish,
Maybe it's above my being, most likely I do not understand modern society,
But... Damn it,
I doubt we understand ourselves!

This poem has a very complex character. He or she is not genuine, but not in the fake nice way but in the fake mean way. The character contradicts himself knowing that he does. This work may "piss" off others, but may make people realize that life isn't that hard. The cynical tone is effective and awakens the cynicism in the reader. Also, this character reminds of somebody that I am very much in love with. Good work.

This is probably the bet poem I've ever read! It flows, it has punctuation ( which most people don't use in poems for some odd reason, you would be suprised) it makes sense, it has a great pint of view, and it has a point that everyone has thought of at one time or another. Great job! Really I love it. Keep up the good work, I look forward to reading more of your amazing, well thought out wrighting very soon. If you ever need any ideas, just come find me, and I'll be happy to help! Remember to keep wrighting, and in no time you'll have a published book. Keep up the good work!
