chapter 2A Chapter by Shattered Sightsasuke and kimra start there adventure. When sasuke awoke the next day he felt sore, no that was an understatement his entire body hurt. His lungs still burned from the abuse of the night before. He tried to sit up but was unable to do so. Only then did he realize that he was bandaged up. His chest and arms had been severely burned and he could feel the skin trying to come off under the bandages. He coughed smoke still escaping his lungs. "hopefully that's the last of it," someone to his left said. He turned his head straining to see who it was. The girl from the night before sat next to a small fire pit cooking what looked like a large rabbit. Her long black hair hung in waves around her face, the tips singed. Her eyes's were focused on him she looked at him like he was some kind of food. He wasn’t sure what to think about that. Her hands were bandaged, sasuke remembered the night before she had lifted the beam off of him. She had saved him then seemed angry about it. He looked back up and closed his eyes again. "your lucky my sister showed up," kimra said turning back towards the fire. "I was half tempted to leave you at the edge of the forest." Sasuke looked back towards her not sure how to react to that. "Thank you I guess," he said after a moment of silence. Kimra frowned watching the fire. Although she said her sister had showed up that wasn’t the case. She had picked up the boy and brought him back to the campsite last night. Her younger sister Catherine didn’t know about the boy till she woke up this morning. She was fine with him even though he was human. Catherine was to young to remember the fire that took their parents so the hatred Catherine had wasn’t as deep as Kimra's was. So when it came to humans she was usually the voice of reason. She usually was able to keep kimra civil with the humans when they use to live in the villages. But like they were now living in the forest only going into towns when the absolutely had to she didn’t have to be civil. Catherine was so proud of her older sister for saving this boy. That's why she brought him back. After all she did know the child wouldn’t have been alright without the help. "I'm back," someone said coming into the small clearing. This person brought kimra out of her thoughts. Her younger sister Catherine was fifteen. The girl was skinny and short for her age. Her hair was long and black like Kimra's but instead of it having the waves it was straight. She smiled walking towards her sister. she dropped a bag next to fire coins chinked as if fell. sasuke could see the twin knives on her hips. She was his age but he had never even picked up a knife except to peel a potato. He caught her eyes on him studying his face. "Ah your awake," she said kneeling down in front of him. "uh ya..." He said trying to back away from her. "Call me kitty, ok" she said with a smile. He smiled back at her it was an unsure smile but a smile none the less. She giggled getting back up. Before helping Sasuke sit up. hours passed between the three of them. Kitty and Kimra excanged details on that morning. Kitty had apparently been in the village for hours. She was a pickpocket and a cutpurse, but that’s what she did to help support the two of them. Sasuke learned that Kimra did the same thing but was more violent about getting money. Mugging a singled out person before robbing them blind. "what did I get myself into," sasuke asked under his breath. The two girls laughed at some joke sasuke didn’t get. The two of them got up Kimra looked over at Sasuke as Kitty started packing up. "we don’t stay in one place long, you don’t have anywhere to go back to if you want you can tag along but you carry your own weight ok." Kimra said scorn in her voice. It was obvious to him that she didn’t like him but she was allowing him to follow along. Only if he wanted to though. he struggled to his feet Kitty helping him the rest of the way. they walked until the sun was close to setting going north. That’s when they stopped. Kitty ran into the forest away from the group claiming to be after firewood. Kimra started clearing the area around them making it clear enough for the three of them. Kitty returned a few minutes later carrying more wood in one arm then most full men could carry in one hand. In the other hand she was dragging a long big enough for the three of them to sit on. Sasuke backed off away from them. "ho-how are you doing that." He demanded "does it matter, im strong, Kimra's stronger." Kitty said setting down the log. Sasuke looked at the two of them not sure how to react with them. No wonder kimra was able to pull the beam off of him but even then he remembered she had trouble with it. The girls continued to build camp. The sun had long set by the time they stopped. Sasuke noticed the girls seemed edgy. "sasuke were going to go hunting," kimra said searching the horizon. "may the gods favor you on this night." He wasn’t sure what she meant by that but nodded. "keep the fire burning until we return" kitty said her eyes on the horizon as well. The two girls left leaving sasuke next to the fire. For what only seemed like a moment the sky was dark as was the world around him. Then the moon rose, a full moon lit up the night. Beautiful sasuke thought before turning his eyes back to the fire. The girls had left what was left of the rabbit from that morning for him. He warmed it on the fire before consuming it. It was good the meat tender with no sign of damage from the hunting of it. Sasuke had seen the skin from it drying at the original camp sight it had been folded nicely and placed in the bag kimra had. Sasuke looked at what he supposed was his bed roll they had set it up two on one side of the fire and one on the other he sat down on his. He started to look up at the sky the moon was almost overhead he smiled at the moon. "so this is the start of a new adventure is it." He said as he heard the howls in the distance. © 2015 Shattered SightAuthor's Note
