Fire SpearsA Poem by Sharon Jodock-King
Stars were out brightly
The silver of the moon slipped Away slowly behind the hills Of the city colored lights As they sparkled upon Bay waters so calm In the night's semi-cold air A fire in a pit is offered By a kind stranger on the way To a car as we embarked from ours And being dragged through swishing sand In our wheels we soon found ourselves sitting Staring into flames Which appeared like fire spears Sparks flew in the air As smoke aroused in the burning Wood being prepared for slender sticks With pure white marshmallows Wrapped around ready to be charred In the fiery speared fire So cozy with memories Of camp fires long ago When one was young rarring for adventure 3/31/1998 © 2022 Sharon Jodock-KingFeatured Review
