Baby in the bus

Baby in the bus

A Poem by Sharib

I was running late already.
Condition became even worse with drizzle too steady.
An umbrella and a bag were there to accompany,
Reluctant to use the former made me look funny.
But I had my commitments made
hence boarded the bus under cloud's shade.

Travellers seemed normal, unaffected by the weather.
Too busy to notice the newcomer except two however.
Free of all the worries of life,
her calm and sweet smile could even end the strife.
She was a little baby so pure.
Some heavenly force made me notice her for sure.
Her sight robbed me of my sense.
Because I had just witnessed an epitome of innocence.

Then came and sat a fat lady,
raising my hopes for filling emotion's wady.
The scarf almost covered her face,
But that unfurled as she entered in with pace.
Her eyes waited for something
But to a stranger she will tell nothing!
Failing to notice the baby thrice
she totally took me by surprise.
Still that little thing took no offence,
Trying to touch her with perseverance.
Such was the girl's audacity.
As affection knows no fences in this God's city.

Given the situation I was in,
not sharing that baby's joy could mean a sin.
Somehow my emotions were intercepted by her
And that cute smile went straight through my fur.

But that encounter came to a standstill
As 'The second' one shown my stop, totally against my will.
