Selfless

Selfless

A Poem by Shards

You were like
a shooting star caught in the glimpse of the unsuspecting
a flower picked and not put in water
innocence of youth
in other words
gone sooner than I would have liked

you are lovely
a paradox worth contemplating
the kisser of my dreams
and the most enjoyable waste of time I have ever endured

more credit worthy than the bank of your heart implies
but as it goes your opinion of yourself will always outweigh mine

bless you
for humouring my ways, sharing your time, broadening my perspectives
and thank you
for making this bitter end so sweet

I really liked this poem as far as the images go. The thing I stumbled most on was the little phrase, "being so cool." For the most part, it seems like your other images are all really refined, like the speaker is well educated; throwing in the "being so cool" sounds like a different speaker altogether coming into the poem. Everything sounds great, though!

Hi Shards,

I really liked this poem. Very simple & to the point. I think everyone can relate to it in one way or another, I know I can.
