The darknessA Poem by Shan_waterA short piece about addiction and how we hide the darkest parts of ourselves. The needle pierces through the skin, the red fruit flows down the throat. A fleeting feeling of euphoria, safeness wraps around our psyche, just for a little while. Forgetting the unfeeling, the metal towers, the competitive ego, the burden we are on this mother land, the weight of the other we bare upon our shoulders, the anxiousness of our broken souls. Everything becomes transparent and we return to where we came. Then it hits us all again as the sun rises from the night sky. It’s time to compete, time to defeat, switching the false light on, as this society has no room for the real, the broken, the darkness. We have no room for ourselves, for everyone must bare the dark night of the soul but it never passes as we can’t set it free, for the other needs to see. but it will be all right, night will fall and mother nature's darkest crevices will greet us as we are. Another sip of the red fruit, a line of the coca, a needle pumping poppy through our veins And we will let go for a little while, for a little while is better than nothing at all. Killing our senses only to arise and hit the switch again as light seeps in. We call it addiction, we call it weakness, it's the darkest part of our souls begging for release, drowning in this light society. Set me free. © 2021 Shan_waterAuthor's Note
