Give me a reason to breathe

I know these things should come naturally

But for me they are too far away

I think about all I have and I smile

I know that there are others far worse off

It doesn't help my heart to have to worry about you

I am only doing this because I have nothing left to do

The emptiness down in the pit of me

Needs to be filled with something

Would an everlasting love suffice?

Or could it be a great deal of wealth?

Could a kind word from a stranger help me deal?

I know the answer lies within

I know I need to search my soul

Somewhere between the drama and life I have lost myself

Since when did I become the last on my list?

A vivid poem.
Emotional & genuine.
Normally a write about depression & the sort leaves me with a bitter taste but yours was unique.
How you concede that there are people worse off than you just changed the whole angle on it. You know that life could be worse & by saying that, you sound more realistic & genuinely upset than an attention seeking self pitying soul.
