 Chapter 11

The smoke clears. Dervish uneasily gets up emerging from the creator his body fills up most of the damage done and worryingly heads into the air, not looking behind. Matius crashes to the ground. Staring at the trail of ash Dervish has left behind, Matius remembers Ivan's words, "Destroy his spirit!" and remembers Ivan's sword. He grabs the mighty sword and launches himself into the air and heads for Dervish.

Dervish eyes widen and looks down to see Matius gaining ground, in anger Dervish sends dense smoke towards Matius. Matius times it perfectly as he hacks the smoke, gaining speed as the sword and himself glow more vividly like some avenging angel. Dervish looks in frustration at Matius and sends more smoke, because of Matiuss speed, he becomes missile like. In one final desperate attack Dervish gains speed and puts some distance between them. Then using the last of his powers he fills the air between them with dense black smoke covering the skies. Matius closes his eyes and gets the sword ready. Several seconds pass as Dervish levitates motionless in the air, then Matius bursts from the black smoke, as both their eye’s look at each other.

In a split second both beings of pure power stand their motionless looking at each other. One of pure evil, made from the souls of thousands to protect his vulnerable soul, the other with the power of God by his side. Then, Matius thrusts the long bladed black sword deep into Dervish as his ash like mouth utters an inhuman scream. Matius moves away as smoke pours from the gash. The sword's glow breaking off parts of his devilish form. Dervish looks down at the sword and tries to grab its hilt. The hilt glows burning his hands. The glow from the sword spreads across his body as he screams. The sound fills the blackened sky. The sound of torment, of tortured souls released, echoes through the emptiness. His colourless eyes glow with rage as more ash breaks away. His face distorts, it's eyes filled with fear and rage. The visage cannot hold together against the might of the blows wrecked by the vengeful angel's sword. The black soul begins to break away, disintegrating in the sky.

A huge white flash fills the sky. The sword destroys Dervish. Matius covers his eyes, waiting for the flash to fade. He reopens them looking at where Dervish was destroyed believing it never looked possible. He levitates down from the sky, the energy still crackling around him as his body is illuminated white. He looks at Ivan's sword now lying on the ground. Its purpose fulfilled. Matius closes his eyes once more remembering Lemionas's words, "God let you live for a reason." He remembers the cross around his neck, the necklace Eva gave him, looking down at the ruined city. It could be possible he thinks as he kneels down he closes his eyes and touches the ground. The white energy spreads across the ground, disintegrating the black ash. Shoots appear from the cracks and holes. Flowers bloom, opening their petals. The whole area now filled with white light.

The dead begin to arise (as God foretold.....The people have been judged) as people killed start appearing. People touch themselves in amazement, people laugh. Old people and youths hug each other, girls cry for sheer joy. Matius hears life but isn't concerned, as he continues to repair everything. Glass in windows start to reappear, and broken buildings start new again. Matius looks behind him seeing Ivan who looks at his sword with a smile he lifts it of the ground and does a figure of eight, People stare at Ivan completely lost. Both angels appear out of the crowd running towards Matius, shouting, "You did it! You did it!" They both hug him, making him laugh; he turns to see Lemionas approaching him looking tired, but smiling. "I knew you could do it, even with the odds stacked against you". Matius turns towards him, lifting his head, "You believed in me all this time?"

Lemionas smiles. "Yes." Matius looks at Ivan, as he approaches him. "He has been destroyed at last." Looking straight at Matius, "yes" he replies. He turns away from Ivan, away from the crowd of people who have now gathered and walks away. From the darkest days, from the worst times, it brings people united, from the poor, the weak and the rich and all will remember this day.

After four months after the darkest day people from all over the world recover, unsure if it was all a dream or if it really happened. The day Ivan's brother wiped out human kind for his own purposes, the worst hit by his rampage was London. Now it stands taller now more than ever.

Matius approaches Craig's house as he knocks the door handle and waits patiently. He turns his head noticing the roses and flowers which are planted below the window, he hears someone approach the door and the door opens Craig's mum peers seeing Matius. "Oh it's you... Please come on in!" She shuts the door behind them; Matius takes two steps before he hears Craig. "It's so good to see you!"

Craig runs down the stairs and launches himself at Matius. Hugging Craig he looks into the kitchen and sees the women and kid who were on the train. They spot him and give a smile while they are eating. He suddenly feels something wrong as his attention turns elsewhere looking towards the stairs, ignoring Craig's family. "What's wrong?" Craig asks confused as Matius heads towards the stairs ignoring him.

"I'm closing in, "he thinks to himself as he heads down the landing. He finds himself standing in front of the bathroom door, uncertain he opens the bathroom door. He notes the blue and white colour schemed tiles and feels the odd feeling by the mirror, he stands there completely stuck as if he's just seen his own reflection, he approaches the now new mirror and spots a fragment of broken glass, he looks at it with interest, then he closes his hands around it and closes his eyes, and finds something different, something strange, he could swear he can feel Dervish's presence yet he is dead.

Satisfied, yet confused he walks out of the house and walks down the path, "something's not right" he thinks to himself as he walks down the pavement. Up above a figure mostly in shadow watches, a figure just like Matius.
