Strange Man

Strange Man

A Poem by Shane Mohamed

Strange Man

Who art thou strange man beyond the spectrum?

It has been ages since I’ve seen you.

It seems strange to find thee vivacious and wholesome!

I’ve gotten used to seeing thee bound and blue.

Thine new character is ever jocundly and positive.

It is strange that you deny stirring the pages of the past.

You gather the moments of today with an effort so cumulative,

As if cherishing moments that will last.

I will be careful not to distill the peace,

For it’s good to have you back from beneath the ashes.

Recollect yourself, each piece by piece.

It’s good to see the strange man in euphoric figments and flashes.

Please remain, for we enjoy thy company.

Oh strange man, I hope your new days to come are many.

Traditional poetry is something I admire; it is a craft that I do not tend to practice. "Strange Man" is an introspective portrait of the speaker; he is his past, present and future. This first person narrative refers to himself in third person as he illustrates his memories; "euphoric figments" and "flashes." He seems to be unfamiliar with "who" he "was" as opposed to being mindful of the now. Primarily, the "strange man" becomes enlightened about his identity as he progresses through life; a process of rebirth.

Assalamu Alaikum,
You would make an excellent literary critic; just choose modest literature.
You always have a well written and executed piece of poetry!
I have to agree with Sami different strokes for different folks,
I really enjoyed the last stanza, made me smile in happiness:)
Thanks for sharing and b-blessed!

Give yourself the credit. You're the one that had the heart to discuss such an important matter :)
We are all strange to a certain extent. We even know it sometimes and we never change those weird habits we all have. It takes discipline I guess. Some people like things neat and organized and some like chaos and mess. Some are hoarders and some are not. The list goes on. An excellent write...:)....
