TodayA Poem by Shane MohamedOvercoming depressionToday Sometimes
I sit, with chin against palm, Wondering what’s to come upon morrow, And fighting this depression distilled with calm, But oft find myself lost in thoughts of sorrow, Oft, I find myself displeased to my dismay; And my conscience can do nothing but obey This heartless monster of dissatisfaction at the ratio Of sand grains against piles of colorless snow.
Today I slip from the grips of this smothering grief; Unwilling to give in to the concept of loss Of mentality, loss of reality, loss of belief. I am willing to let go of a dismal past, from which I toss; Toss and turn in wakeful nights, afraid of the cause Of the squeamish nightmare, which I awfully dread. I’ve given in many times before, but hence, I conquer instead. © 2015 Shane MohamedAuthor's Note
