A Poem by Shane Hogan Poetry

I stand in a field of dark green grass,
that I have been known to fondle at times.
Winds roll bye and clear settled dusts,
whilst impressioning the grass that has grown to my hip.
The sun has disappeared behind a sky of black,
and for a period, I just look up.
Shear shock and agitation start suddenly,
but break to tranquil trances welcoming weightlessness.
White light chases white light
across my basalt sky,
charging my stale air;
I absorb this image, eyes shut,
before I hear a clap.
I know the dangers to self of such power,
as I stand as a plausible conductor.
The Rain comes down and
I embrace it completely.
I raise my hands from my sides slowly,
gently, I take one last deep breath.
The next clap awakens me.
A beam of abstract pulsing colour,
concentrates around me.
It seeps into the world,
and upon encasing it,
I truly see.
This one true nanosecond,
recalls its tranquil beauty.
I fall to my knees,
and smile to see the sun,
make green my grass.
This change defined change itself,
and All I can see is bright blue skies.

Very lovely poem. Intense imagery-- which I can always appreciate in poetry. The last stanza reminds me of the lyrics from Blue Skies by Ella Fitzgerald; "Blue skies, smiling at me. Nothing but blue skies, do I see." I love the message as well; changing your attitude. What a world of a difference it makes. There is beauty in the storm, the rain, the grass. Truly lovely, indeed :)

I like how it moves, the changing moods between stanzas, the imagery is really good, but the main concept is what makes the poem, the being in touch with nature and with the world around you is the key, nice one.

That means a lot! Thank you!!
Another emotional and well thought out poem. Two minor style questions: one, the little space third stanza, last line, intentional, or no? Also, very last line, All seems to stand out on its own due to capitalization, is this intentional?

This is great, Shane - loved the structure and the title reeled me in... had me wondering what you had written.

Great work as ever.
