Life Blood

Life Blood

A Poem by Shane Rendon

I stood over a bridge, and cut my stomach open with a dull knife.
I allowed its contents to pour into the still water below.
Upon impact they created a ripple.
This crimson stained ripple traveled several feet before settling on a near-by bank.
My blood stained the earth on that bank.
After many years the blood stained earth vegetated.
Many animals where given sustenance from that vegetation.
I died on that bridge.
These animals live on.

old school edit:

Many animals where given sustenance from that vegitation.
I died on that bridge.
These animals live on.
