Journey in the Dark

Journey in the Dark

A Poem by Shaly Laevulins

Some would say I’m lost

as I wander alone in this world.

I walk this shadowed road,

but in solitude I’ve found peace.

Away from all the anger,

the seemingly endless agony;

Away from reality’s temptations

and the fears I’ve learned to live with.

But will this peace remain?

Or is this the calm before the storm?

If the storm comes,

will I be ready?

Or will I be lost

like dust in the winds?

The path that lies ahead

is so hard to see,

and an endless fog

covers the path behind.

In this shadowed world,

it appears all I’m seeing

is a dream

in which time stands still;

No past or future exists.

Ahead of me appears a door

and it begins to glow

as does the key in my hands.

Through the glowing door

and reality I’ve returned to.

My journey in the dark

is over... For now.

Close to my heart, I’ll protect it.

My key to escape this reality.

My key to return to

that world of peace,

and take another

Journey in the Dark.

You can be a hero if you venture into the dark. The mythological landscape of the modern man and woman is inside them. Nature hates us these days and the gods and heroes have vanished from our immediate experiences. The only way is through the dark. It's all about finding that "key" that opens the door to the underworld and the adventure begins!
Thank you for sharing. I hope you keep writing because personally I really like what you write about and your style :)
