Once Upon a Lie

Once Upon a Lie

A Poem by BodilessSoul
"

Love is too extraordinary, too unreal to be true. It might as well be an outright lie out of a fairy tale.

"

Far away, a girl is draped in gold

And told that she's a sight to behold

By the one she holds dear, the one that is to fear.

Someone warn her, someone tell!

Someone warn her of the one she fell!

For he is a breeze, so easily he'll leave.

He'll disappear and she'll grieve.

Far away, a girl dreams a wonderful tale

Of a vast ocean she must sail

With the one she holds dear, the one that is to fear.

Someone shake her, someone scream!

Someone shake her out of this harmful dream!

For it is a fantasy, so easily it'll shatter.

It'll be taken and she'll be in tatters.

Far away, a girl hopes for a new life,

For a child and to be a wife

To the one she holds dear, the one that is to fear.

Someone help her, someone see!

Someone help her to run, to flee!

For this is all make-believe, so easily it'll unravel.

The hourglass will crack and she'll grovel.

Far away, a girl doesn't know

That the strings are pulled, for this whole show,

By the one she holds dear, the one that is to fear.

For he is the one to fear...

For he is the one that'll bring her to tears.

Wow. This story was exquisitely woven into a poem. The rhythmic and rhyming pattern make it an even more lovely read.
