RobotsA Poem by BodilessSoulPeople can be so thoughtless and careless, looking the other way when others are in need. We are humans, we should care... not look away from one's dispair. The robots do their daily dance Wandering around in straight lines as they pass Programmed, issued into boxes No minds of their own, the robots they dance
One stumbles and falls, broken down on the ground Need of repair, need for help but they don't even stare Just continue their dance, they wander around in straight, perfect lines Programmed to ignore, programmed to just get by
Broken and fading, the robot awakens Her programming is glitched, she rises to her feet Still broken but alive, searching for help and stumbles She calls to the others, but their programs tell them "walk"
Astonished, she continues, bleeding and falling "Help," she calls but no one hears, they've been programmed not to go near Infuriated she cries as she slowly, painfully dies "Why won't anyone help?" she wonders aloud
No one blinks, no one cares. They all act as if she isn't there As the robots continue their daily dance Wandering around in straight lines as they pass No minds of their own, the robots they dance their cold pale dance
Drifting into silence, she falls to the ground Trampled over by the robots, she makes no sound Their eyes, they keep forward and steady walk Back to their boxes, none do they talk
As one of them falls, they ignore it all For they are robots, watch them recite Their daily routine, straight lines Programmed over and over and issued into boxes
One huge mass, never a thought does pass When one suffers, no mind to tell them otherwise To lend a helping hand, no passion or care For anything but their straight lines
