Death's Eyes

Death's Eyes

A Poem by BodilessSoul
"

A poem about finally meeting death and looking it straight in the eye.

"

Dark and pitless

A black abyss of torture, despair

Fear blended with a knowing

An understanding of what is to come

What is to be reached, equilibrium

When all is balanced in my sound mind

Body, that's when it comes

These eyes, so luciously dangerous

Yet tame from ages of wear and tear

I've been ready, so ready

To stare into these eyes

These eyes that escaped me for so long

Chased me to the ends of the world

Finally, found me

We've been aquainted, good ol' friends we are

These eyes so familiar

There is no panic, no emotion

Yet so much hidden behind that I see

Solely a reflection of me

In his hollow eyes.

Very vivid. Death comes in so many forms but we usually see him as a visible being and those eyes you portrayed are very real. I look forward to reading more of your work.

On another note, I think aquainted has an "i" in it. Hope you don't mind!
