Can You Tell Me Why?A Poem by BodilessSoulWhen did the word rich become associated with money? How could we as a entity, a powerful hand in fate and our future, paint such a horrid world for ourselves? You! You! Hey, you! Can you tell me why?
What happened to the meaning of equality? Because it seems it's been erased from the books of humanity. Have we all just sealed our minds and eyes with steel, refusing to see the injustices of the world? Young ones, old and wise ones, tell me... please, can you tell me?
Women beatened, children's eyes forever torn by war, men stripped of their families - of dignity. Houses, homes, burned; Shelters gone. For what? Freedom? Peace? Is that what you claim? Yonder, behind that there hill, are people in mourning. Can you tell me why?
When love is love, why can't everyone be the same? When man loves man, woman loves woman... How is that so wrong? "All men are created equal" I believed in that so but now I've lost my faith. You accuse them of being wrong, when your mind is so engraved with words written on a page. Tell me...why?
Wrapped up, oh so wrapped up are we in our everyday lives, we never consider the ones... Humans who live in the ring of fire, in blazing torture and call that their "everyday lives" You look the other way. Can you tell me why?
How can we be so blind? Useless are our eyes when we won't even dare to look beyond our T.V screens and bibles Moths eat away at the fabric of our world, knowing we do not watch or care for it. Always are we looking in the mirror, not trully seeing the real ugly reflection that begs to be seen. Never do we think beyond what we've preconcieved, so dull and brainwashed are we. Is it ever going to change? Or are we to forever cover our eyes against the brutal truth of our lack of humanity? Truth, it stings and it burns; Forever ingraved in our history. What if I don't want to read our mistakes in books? You there, can you tell me if we'll ever learn? © 2009 BodilessSoul |
