When All Else Falls, He Keeps Me Just Above Oblivion

Life was what you'd call "crap"

And I was just about to call it a wrap

When he dove, crashed, into my world like my own personal superman

He came and reached, demanding my hand

Blinded and confused by life itself, I refused

But he broke into my chest, my cold heart he diffused

Whispered words of kindness

Deflating my bitterness

I saw the cliff I dangled from with new eyes

I realized the answer was not my demise

And I clung to his outreaching arm

Knowing that, unlike the rest of the world, he'd do me no harm

My mind chaotic, distressed

He stayed, no matter what I said and tried to repress

The madness within me

He wanted to set me free

From the darkness I'd fallen into so deep

He never left, though I thought myself a creep

What does he see?

Beyond the wild, the crazy?

My savior, he is, my hero forever

Sending my heart into tremors

At the very thought of his name

I wonder if he feels the same

No matter, as long as he's near

I'll have nothing to fear

Because when all else is "crap"

He keeps me binded together, holds me tight, but not a trap

More like a safe haven, a glue

That keeps me, my sanity, true

i liked this one. it seems a bit far fetched at times, but then you remember, this girl's already sort of one cookie short of a cookie jar. i don't normally like this rhyme scheme, but you really pulled it off. good job, L!

WOW!!! now how could have i gone without reading this one...a perfect blend of fine poetry meeting a modern attitude...i really really liked it...something very different...!!!
the flow, the imagery...perfect!

can't point out a few lines in particular to call my favorite because i liked the entire poem...amazingly done!!!
