When You Loved Me

When You Loved Me

A Poem by BodilessSoul

The snow is gentle to me-

Falls in small puffs all around
And caresses my cheeks,
Landing in tendrils of my hair.
The wind is sweet to me-
Plays innocently with my hair,
Dancing around my body,
Whispering songs into my ear
Meant for only me to hear.
The stars are loving to me-
Guiding my way back from places unknown,
Lighting my cold, heart torn nights
The ones that you give to me.
You are not gentle to me
Nor sweet, or loving.
But I’m all of this to you
For I love you with all of my being.
Your words cut deep-
Cuts that the snow touches,
Burning and freezing all it touches.
Your cold stares leave me shattered-
Shatters that the wind blows away
Into the shadows, never to be found.
Your unfeeling kisses hollow my soul-
The soul that the stars shine into,
Illuminating the space left behind.
The snow was gentle to me,
The wind was sweet,
The stars were loving,
When you loved me.
