Third Eye

Third Eye

A Poem by Shakita Slater

You. You're different.
It's not about your looks,
It's not about your style,
It's not something intangible.
It's your aura.
And damn, baby,
you glow.
And that's what sets you apart from everyone.
My heart is like a clown,
dressed up for this circus life,
entertaining those who want a quick laugh.
But when the curtains are drawn,
who stays behind to see whether my heart is smiling?
