Of the MoonA Poem by ShaibelleExactly as the title says. Of the moon.Of the Moon -Geneva Willis-
Harbinger of light, the sun you shadow, Of glow-rimmed earth, in night-world casing be, In dancing whorls of ancient sky
hollow, Amid the dawn of sorrow's seething sea I saw you among the fleeting sky-larks. Mindless as any mindless one could dream, You told me this: in society's ark, Silent as the bone, flows the life-stream. What you meant I'll never know, harbinger Of life and streams I speak again to you, Your light it sheens upon the sill forever, Now tell me dear, where have the shadows flown? In quiet dream-space you grin through the lies, You are the moon, and night your simple ties. © 2011 Shaibelle |
