When I'm Gone

A story inspired by the song 'When I'm Gone' by Eminem.

Marshall was in his office writing down a few rhymes. He still couldn't come up with anything decent, and he needed to catch a plane. Marshall knew the song was gonna be about Hailie, but he didn't know how to express his love for her in another song. He heard little foot steps come down the hall towards his office, he just pretended he didn't hear em.
'Look daddy, look what I made'
'Hailie, dad's busy. I gotta catch a plane'
She dropped her artwork on the ground and continued to communicate with Marshall.
'Daddy, wheres mommy? I can't find mommy where is she?'
'I don't know Hailie, go play. I gotta write a song, it ain't gonna write itself'
Hailie dropped her head and exited the room. Once she was almost gone Marshall turned his head to look at her. He then realized what he had done, hurt his daughter. He sighed then put his head in his hands, 'look what you did no he thought to himself.

Marshall keeps having these day dreams, dreams about Hailie and Kim. He's pushing Hailie on a swing in the backyard while Kim watches from the back door.
'Dad?'
'Yeah baby?'
'Why is mommy crying? Are you making mommy cry?'
Marshall looked up at Kim, who had a single tear sliding down her face. She was leaned up against the door frame, but they could still see she was very upset.
'Daddy.. are you leaving again?'
'Baby daddy ain't leaving no more'
'Daddy you're lying!'
She jumped off the swing and turned around to face him.
'You always say that, you always say this is the last time!'
Hailie turned around to run into the house, she ran right passed Kim and ignored Marshall calling her name. She opened a door to a closet full of boxes, she took 20+ boxes and started pushing them towards the door. Once the door was blocked, Marshall was on his way down the stairs with his bag.
'Yo, what's going on!?'
'You're not leaving no more, daddy you're mine'
She ran up to her dad and gave him a hug. He kneeled down to her level and seen she was about to cry. He pulled her in for a hug, then Hailie pulled a necklace out of her pocket.
'Take it with you dad, it'll keep you safe. It's got a picture, see?' her voice was a little shakey from crying, and tears poured down her face. Marshall hated seeing his little girl cry, so he took the necklace and gave her one more big hug.
Marshall was looking down at the necklace, when he looked up he noticed a mirror. He realized it was all his day dream again, so he tried to run out the door to find Hailie and tell her he's sorry. But when he opens the door, he's at the stadium for his concert, dressed in a tux and being pushed back to the stage with a mic.

Marshall's finishing his last song, in front of the croud of 60,000 people. He takes a bow, then thanks everyone for coming. He looks down one more time and see's Hailie.
'Hailie!? What are you doing here!?'
'Mommy needs your help, her wrists are bleeding!'
'But were in Sweden, how did you get to Sweden?'
'Me and mommy followed you! You lied too me dad, and now you made mommy sad! And I bought you this coin, all I wanted was to give you this coin! It says 'Number One Dad'!'
Hailie threw the coin onto the stage by his feet. He picked it up. She was about to turn around.
'But baby, wait!'
'No dad! You made your choice. I get the point, me and mommy are going. Show these people you love them more than us'
She ran away, back to Kim whose wrists really were bleeding. Marshall was pulled off the stage and the curtains closed. He turned around, found a gun on the ground, cocked it and screamed 'Die Shady' then shot himself.
Everything flashed before his eyes, the sky got dark, the plane he was supposed to be on crashed. But then he heard an alarm, he turned over and heard birds singing and noticed it was only spring. It was all a dream, a real dream this time, not a day dream, no a real dream. Or more like a nightmare. He went outside, and Hailie was swinging with Whitney and Kim was pushing them. He walked right up to Kim and kissed her, told her he missed her, and Hailie smiles at her little sister.
