Faire

A Chapter by Shadowsythe

I can’t argue that strange things have happened in the past. However, I find myself unable to handle the situation placed in front of me. The strange girl who has broken into my shop wearing nothing but a soaking wet pink dress is now sitting naked in my bathroom trying to wash up. It took some convincing to make her believe I didn't want to hurt her. I let her use my bath and I even left some pajamas out for her to change into. They might be guys pajamas but its better than that soaking wet dress she had on earlier. I let out a distressed sigh as i turned off the burners on the stove. I was in the midst of making dinner for the both of us. Alfredo pasta with spinach and tomato.

“Uhm... I’m all washed up now.” Said a voice coming from the hallway. I turned to see the girl walking out of the bathroom and into the living room. “Thank y-you.” She said still stirred up about the situation. She wasn't really that dirty before but i bet a nice bath warmed her up. The only problem is...

“GO PUT ON SOME CLOTHES!” I shouted in surprise as she walked out of the bathroom a*s naked.

“But you took my dress...” She said obviously upset that I yelled at her.

“There are some clothes on the counter!” I said shielding my eyes. “You can't go walking around naked...”

“I’m sorry.” she said with a gloomy look as she walked back into the bathroom. i unshielded my eyes and returned to the food in front of me. I let out another distressed sigh and removed the pan on food from the burner completely. All this time the storm outside didn't let up. I hope this storm clears up by tomorrow or I won't get any customers. “Here... I put on those clothes.” She said emerging from the bathroom this time fully clothed. I looked over and almost laughed. the clothes she was wearing were way too big for her. Her skinny body could probably slip through the neck hole on that shirt, and she had to hold up the pajama pants. “Um, i don't like these pants.” She said.

“They're just too big.” i said smiling. “Just tie the draw strings.”

“these things?” She asked pulling on the two strings coming from the belt of the pants.

“Yep.” I answered. she fumbled around with the strings and managed to tie them. Unfortunately she didn't tighten them before she tied them and when she let go the pants dropped immediately to the ground. Luckily the shirt she wore was big enough to cover everything down there.

“It didn't work.” she said looking at me seeming disappointed. I almost started laughing again. then i realized I’ll have to help her now.

“Here...Let me do it.” I said. “pull up you're pants and i’ll tie them.”

“Okay.” She said as she bent down and pulled the pants back up. I walked over and knelt down. I took both strings in hand and tightened the pants around her waist, then tied both ends into a bow. We both let go and this time the pants stayed up. “Wow! I worked.” she said seeming surprised. I don't think this girl is trying to be dumb on purpose, and she doesn't act like there's some kind of mental illness... is she really just this clueless? It's like she’s lived under a rock all this time and has never seen the real world. I was about to say something but then I looked up at her and stopped. she had her nose in the air and it looked like she was sniffing at something. then suddenly her face lit up and she smiled. “Oh wow! Something smells really really good!” She said cupping bringing her hands to her chest.

“Oh yeah... I've made dinner.” I said standing back up and walking over to the table.

“Can I have some?” She asked begrudgingly.

“Nah, I was planning on eating all this food by myself.” I said sarcastically.

“Oh...” She mumbled as all the life seemed to drain from her expression. I don't think she understands sarcasm. Now i feel bad that I've made her sad.

“No that was a joke...” I said, pained by the sad expression on her face. “Of course you can have some.” Thankfully the bright smile and giddy expression returned to her face.

“Yay!” she said clapping her hands together in excitement. i let out a soft chuckle and told her to take a seat. she grabbed a tall chair and sat at the counter separating the living room from the kitchen. I served dinner and sat down on the opposite side from her. I gave her a fork and a napkin and thankfully she knew how to use the fork. she twirled the spaghetti around the fork and brought it to her mouth. with one bite i saw her cheeks blush and a smile wash over her face. “Oh my gosh this is amazing!” She exclaimed excitedly.

“I’m glad you like it.” I said.

“This food is so delicious. I wish you could be my master.” She said excitedly. There's that word again, ‘master’. what does she mean by that? Is she talking about a guild master? Maybe a teacher or something. Is...Is she a slave? are those even legal anywhere? Oh! Maybe she’s a summoned spirit. That would make a lot of sense if she was just a familiar or a spirit.

“So, who’s you're master?” I asked. The happy look on her face was quickly replaced by a longing stare.

“I wish i knew.” she said. She doesn't know?! Well she’s definitely not a summoned spirit then, unless she lost her memory. Can spirits lose their memories?

“So you don't know who you're master is?” I asked.

“Unfortunately I don't.”

“Did you forget?”

“It’s not that I've forgotten... I just haven't found him yet.”

“You haven't... found him?” I said curiously.

“No...” She said with the same longing stare. “And i don't know where to even start looking. Mother said that out in the world there is a man who would be willing to risk everything for me, and in return i need to risk everything for him.” She said in a determined posture.

“Mother? You're mother sent you?” I said.

“Yes... Mother earth. Gaia The great spirit of nature.” She said. “She’s the mother of all fairies like myself.”

“F-fairies?” I said in disbelief. “You're a fairy?”

“I am.” She said with disposition. She then stood up from the chair and placed her hands on her chest and closed her eyes. I watched expecting nothing to happen, but the she began to glow and suddenly strange marking carved themselves into her body and started to glow white. Then suddenly there was a flash and everything went white. My eyes adjusted and when they did i gazed upon something more beautiful than anything i've ever seen.

Luna stood there and around her burned a bright fire seemingly made of light. The markings covering her body glowed and burned with white flames. Even her flawless white fair was now fire. And spread majestically behind her was a pair of beautiful wings. White feathered wings just as pure and flawless as her hair or the fire that surrounded her. It was like they were made of light, and seemed to appear from seemingly nowhere. I was so surprised by this new development that i fell back out of my chair startled and crashed to the ground.

*CRASH*

“Ow!” I exclaimed as i tried to pick myself up. suddenly all the light vanished and around the corner of the counter came Luna. She wasn't glowing anymore and she fire that surrounded her was gone. More noticeably, her wings were gone too. Now she had a worried expression on her face.

“Oh no! are you okay?” she asked rushing over and kneeling down beside me. I stared at her in disbelief. There was no doubt about it... This girl is strange. I don't know anything about fairies, I didn't even know they existed.

“Yeah i'm okay.” I said getting back up and rubbing the back of my head. She stood back up too and smiled. Then she returned to her seat and her meal. “So...you’re a fairy?” I asked sitting back down after picking the chair back up.

“Yup...That's right!” She said with a mouth full of food.

“Aren't fairies supposed to be small?” I asked.

“Those are pixies.” She said correcting me. Oh yes, how foolish of me. But even though I don't really believe it, I don't have much of a choice. If she says she’s a fairy then so be it.

“So... You said you’re looking for your master right?” I asked.

“That's right.”

“And you don't know who he is.”

“No I don't.”

“So how would you know if you've found him?”

“Well, I won't be able to tell if I see him, but there is a way to find out.”

“How?” I asked.

“Simple... If I kiss my master our souls will bind.” She said smiling.

“A kiss?” I said. “Wait... Your souls will bind? What does that mean?”

“Hmm... It’s kind of complicated. Basically when two souls bind they merge together and for a brief second they become one before separating again, but when they separate each soul takes a part of the other person soul.”

“Oh...” I said pretending like I knew what she was talking about.

“Heh, its a lot more complicated than that...” She said smiling. I went back to eating my food and she did too. We enjoyed our meals in silence for a little bit. I was about to take my next bite when my eyes stopped on Luna. She was staring at her food even though there was only a few bites left. She had that same longing stare again.

“Is something wrong?” I asked looking up at her.

“Well, its just...” she said giving a brief pause. “Thank you...” She said in a timid voice. “You’re being very nice to me, even after I broke into you're shop and ate a bunch of your food without asking.”

“That's alright... Really, I don't mind.” I said smiling. “Don't feel bad about it. I’m just glad that you aren't hurt.” I said. She looked over to me and smiled now, her expression finally brightening up. With a smile she and i finished dinner.

“Thank you for the food. It was amazing.” She said smiling.

“No problem.” I said grabbing our dishes and bringing them to the sink. “Do you want some tea?” I  asked already filling up the kettle.

“No I shouldn't impose any further.” She said. “I should go back outside and try and find my master.” she said as i placed the kettle on the stove top and made my way back to the sink.

“Yeah, you could leave now and have to wander around in that storm again. It’ll be cold and dark and wet.” I said washing the dirty dishes. “Or... You could stay the night here where its warm and dry, and there's food.”

“But-”

“I’m going to make some tea, And I've got some leftover pie in the fridge.” I said smiling and looking back at her. “You can leave if you want to, i'm not forcing you to stay. But if you do chose to stay then you’re welcome to warm tea, good food, and a comfortable bed.” I flashed her a smile and i saw her cheeks light up red. Then she gave me a lovely smile and nodded her head.

“Well then I guess I have to stay.” She said giggling lightly.

“Good choice.” I said chuckling softly.

“So you mentioned you had pie... What kind?”
