Cold Thin Metal

Cold Thin Metal

A Poem by Shadows Ember

I look in the mirror and wonder just who i am
A sting of pain rushes through my clenched palm.
I realize its crazy
That a small, cold, thin piece of metal
Can be so inviting
But yet,
Somehow,
It relieves the tension of built-up stress.

Many teenagres struggle with identity and relationships. In teenage it is normal for relkationships to be transient as it is the rehersal ground for later life. Rarely do we find true love so young. This describes well in a short free verse the tendancy foir some to self harm as a result of the struggle for identity.

A poem about cutting. Very accurate.

See you being my friend, I know what you feel like and I can't agree with hitchhiker to just stop that. But of course I want the best for you.

Anyway, on to the piece itself, very well written for being so short. I still vote it needs a little shape or format, but eh its very well written all in all.
