PROLOGUE
The ruthless travel has obtained my deepest regrets. I will embark on a journey far worst than a soul can endure. The things I took for granted are now classified as privileges to everyone aboard the vessel. What is it that I have which makes me not understand this world. I should feel blessed at the moment but no such thoughts rush my mind. Ignorance is all that I give away unwillingly, although I try not to show it. After all these people went to so much effort preparing this. Today I will join what will give my life purpose. I have been anxious prior to this ceremony, the pressure wasn't huge as the crowd was of a small number. Not many people would understand this ritual anyway. That is why there are only five living beings in front of me, contemplating the young and irrational spirit I behold. "I wish I had this opportunity at her age." Whispers and words fly across the room and empty the rumours elsewhere. I am extremely advantageous to be given such fortuity. I should be grateful. 'Should' is the right word to use, as I am still unsure whether I am or not. Not about this but about the future. How long will we stay under such hard conditions, when will we arrive at destination? Why are we all being transported in one area? (Or at least that's what I've heard). How on Earth are we all going to fit in a single town? Twenty two billion people is impossible to fit in one city, it is barely liveable on this planet. "Yes but on the other ... you had things Ec...o... didn't acquire. She is so young she will never remember this ... anyway, she can barely say ... word let alone ... her name. She is smaller and more innocent ... a toddler." Bits of phrases are covered by others. Echo. Is that my name? Could they be talking about someone else in the room. Suddenly that possibility shifts all the focus I had on, well, me. Sounding as selfish as ever, I get back to listening on some more information. "This-" "We can't-" "It doesn't matter, the important-" I feel like the entire ship of people is here. Maybe they are. "Could you try-" "Indeed-" "Oh no, I would never-" Strangely the talking stops at once and only one word is ushered. "Syllipsi." Everyone mutters, some with tears of joy. Everything after that happened in a flash. People were down on their knees, pleading. Collapsing amongst the small crowd were objects falling from shelves. The shots drummed in my ears. A fierce, young boy stepped towards me, getting closer within each step. As the small and weary lad approached people fell helplessly, losing consciousness. Sparks were flying vigorously from their bodies. They seemed to be dead and yet reviving at the same time. A soul flourished from their old morale. Horror flashed as I somewhat comprehended the wickedness laid out. I knew what was coming and there was no escaping it. Just like everyone, I would forget this ever happened. All I could hear was an echo. Me. © 2013 Shadowed_pilgrimAuthor's Note
