TemptationA Poem by Shadowdragonn/aYour journey starts in the chaos of limbo Apathy settling in your being Granting sweet distraction Free from the discipline of the world Yet still your mind descends further
Your lust burns brightly; your chest is tight Misunderstood and malnourished Carnal desire whets you appetite It festers, eating at your emotions Yet still your mind descends further
Others may judge you for your gluttonous vices But you wouldn’t call it overindulgence Because you’re still not satisfied It’s palpable on the air Yet still your mind descends further
Are you truly so greedy? You would argue that need is a different beast Your control is firm Maybe… Yet still your mind descends further
Practically sinking into wrathful despair Happiness eludes you; life is cruel You brush against something as your anger steeps A nondescript dark box bearing your name Yet still your mind descends further
This way of thinking may leave you branded as a heretic But you take a look anyway; just a peek Something bubbles up; your breathing becomes ragged The object within reeks of controversy Yet still your mind descends further
Frustration builds at being toyed with; you lash out in violence Soft hands reach out to restrain your fury Perhaps a bit late…? Something whispers at you Yet still your mind descends further
Your fraudulent thoughts swell as your eyes settle on it Satin-soft leather, black as night A velvety lining ensures the fit is tight Studs of burnished bronze glint in fading light Yet still your mind descends
Your treachery has not gone unnoticed; what was that sound? A gentle tug at your neck seals your gift in place It sends frigid pleasure down your spine Crimson eyes fix your gaze And with one swift motion, your journey ends © 2016 Shadowdragon |
