Outspoken

Outspoken

A Poem by Harry Mora

I was just a child

So easy to fool

Dropped into your system

Force fed all your rules

Suffering, the weak

Stepped on by the strong

Ignored and neglected

Unheard for how long?

Dark entries

In my lyric book

Looking around for

All the things you took

Dignity, self-esteem

Devoted to the lies you feed me

Quiet all these years

Now I'm speaking up

Sick of how you look at me

I just want it to stop

Quiet all this time

Now I'm lashing out

Sick of how you treated me

Silent all these years!!!!

Is this what you want from me

Quiet, obsequious, subservience

Misinformed, unquestioning

Assembly line citizens

Programmed by TV

My religion or lack thereof

Race or color

Whomever you despise

Fringe group liars

Names they're given

Suppressed, subverted, CATEGORIZED!!!!
