When memories make you whince

When memories make you whince

A Poem by Harry Mora
"

The mind can be our own worst enemy

"
I'd drain this broken heart for you
I can't feel this ever stopping
Or feel the poison of emptiness ever leaving me
I can't forget you, but we can't be

We just don't work

Your smile is so big without me
I wouldn't wish myself on you
My misery doesn't deserve you
My love for you can't do that to you

I wish I had known our last day for what it was
Wish I had been given a pause
And reversed what I knew was coming
I guess I just have to live... no regrets
That's what we always said

But if I could take back so many things that I've bled
Just to make you feel what I feel
For just one second, for it to be real
One moment is all that I'd steal, I promise
And let you go on with your life, and mine
