Killing What I Hate

Killing What I Hate

A Poem by Shadow Katt
"

Self-hated turns one against themselves until a person is unrecognizable.

"

Tie a rope around my neck
Squeeze it till I sweat
Drowning in my own tears
Make me look inside the mirror

Glimpse what I hate most
The person gazing back at me
With dark eyes that look so cold
But despondent to a knowing entity

Pierce that gaping hole
Exterminate all the evil
It’s sucking away all the good
Leaving only what is vile

Will it out of your mind
And forget you ever knew
Its disappearance will not matter
This thing, the It, whose name haven’t I a clue

Though I know I don’t have to say
Please, do not let it go
Keep there and kill it
Till it snows in a place it never snows

The aches of a wound, slash, or cut
May even bring relief
So feed it the trickling blood
Watch as it chokes in its own grief

Even if it cries and howls
Don’t listen to its pleas
Let’s rid the world of it together
So that everyone is appeased

As far as I'm concerned, self-hatred is the saddest thing there is. There are a lot of things in the world that are horrible, but external problems, one can face; being turned against oneself turns you against your most powerful ally.

I liked this poem a lot, though there are things that could stand to be touched up. Good work.

Here's to senior year. I'm going to start writing a novel...yeah... sometime. Admittedly, I'm a huge procrastinator, but I have a few ideas, now I just need to write them down. Anyways, I'm a suck.. more..
