Mother Gaia Cries

Mother Gaia Cries

A Poem by ShadowWolf
"

Man has lost his spiritual-self and connection with Mother Nature.

Far, far from the cities of Man
Away from those who have no care
A walk I took amidst the forest green
To distant mountain top
From clear blue sky I heard Brother Eagle cry

Thru foothill and valley I walked
Climbing ever higher
Just fresh clean air and peaceful forest sounds
Upon a warm gray stone I paused to rest
From forest within I heard Brother Bear cry

Warm breath the Lady Wind blew
Gently stirring leaf and limb
Scurried creatures on the ground
Hidden denizens of the air flitted here and there
In the distance came Brother Wolfs mournful cry

Puzzled now I wondered why
What disturbs these kindred spirits
Determined to discover I must
To the mountain top
Up to the mountain top

Over hill and dale and tumbled stone
Thru waters cold and crystal clear
Up the mountain I hurried
Winding way past tree and cliff
Ware! Ware! the warning came
Sister Raven called

Spirit troubled, spirit disturbed
Only one could give the answer
Interrupt his rest I must
To his home the mighty oak I rushed

Brother Owl, Brother Owl
Tell me please!
Why do Brothers and Sister all mourn
Head swiveled and turned
Piercing yellow eyes regarded me
Then he spoke

Greed and avarice
Carelessness and neglect
Has become the creed
Unfeeling uncaring
No longer hearing
Man has lost his way
Spirit dying
Man has forgotten
From whence he came

Once again you pen such beautiful imagery in nature and this time with a haunting message. The destruction of our world by man is a thing to mourn over. Thank you for sharing.

Great meter and flow, ShadowWolf!

Has man truly lost his way? It seems he really has. A beautiful poem, thank you.

This is really quite extraordinary.

Man has lost his way
Spirit dying
Man has forgotten
From whence he came

Truer words were never spoken. I sometimes wonder if there is any hope for us at all.

Your connection to that which is important in this life has formed your soul...over the ages wrought in strength...and beauty.

definitely a great message and very thoughtful. the descriptions of nature (tumbled stone, clear, cold water, green forest, fresh, clean air) make a powerful contrast to the last stanza about the (non)attributes of man. i wish more people paid attention to these things.

A very powerful and very beautiful message...nicely done.

Your search...a moving quest for truth...challenging us to face what we have lost

We cannot bring others to action, but we can find a way in our own lives to
show those who do not care that we will not be part of the callousness.

BEAUTIFUL.

Beautiful in thought, construction, theme and intent.

You built a story with every word-step you took and, finished with a prayer, a moral.

I agree utterly, wholeheartedly, with your final words

Thank you so much for sharing.

Take care.
