I do know what an American is not - we are not the hyphenated labels used to separate and divide us such as Asian-American, etc. We all want the same things for our families, peace and prosperity.
An excellent question...should be answered by anyone who chooses to live here every day.
In their answers, which I perceive was your intent, we would be able to know those who have
strong or weak minds, caring loyalists or unthinking clods who would be better off somewhere
else. I believe that anyone who believes they are an American, should be actively pursuing
something beneficial for the rest of us. For many at the Cafe, they are writing meaningful
work and construcive reviews....certainly the reason that Charlie started the best website
on the Internet for us. sam
I know how important this is to you. In this great melting pot of a country of ours I do believe that there are many answers. And more than likely one answer is going to be equally as important as another ... although that may not always appear to be so. Well, the Americas do take up two continents and the central connecting portion. But I do not think that is what you mean.
I do think that a true American would be willing to don the uniform to serve ... and I do not mean to fight ... but to serve to protect the Constitution. I have no problem whatsoever with pacifism for we do have a medical corps among other places for those who are pacifists. An American is a legal citizen of this country.
An "old man", not by choice in the sense of years since I am five years older than dirt and two years older than baseball. Age is simply a state of mind and that being the case then my mind tells me I.. more..
