The Price We PayA Poem by ShadowWhysperAn old Poetry Circle poem written for the picture below... (Picture: 'The Apple Tree' by Mitch Zorich)The Price We Pay
A woman covers her face in shame Yet she cannot be held to blame For in her innocence she did not know Just how fast the seed would grow A taste of knowledge, innocence lost Being human has a cost
Now for knowledge, there is a thirst Some may think that we’ve been cursed Though knowledge is demanding With it comes understanding And in that understanding lies A sight that goes beyond the eyes For it is felt deep within Empathy is not a sin The price we pay for innocence lost Is it not worth the cost?
