A Poem by ShadowWhysper

Genie

My genie in a bottle, that’s what you are to me

All I need to do is ask and all my wishes are free

You would think it would be easy, to know what to ask for

To find out what I like and then just to ask for more

But I need to be specific and know every little detail

Otherwise my wish is truly bound to fail

If I were to ask for a pet, I could get a fish

Which wouldn’t make me happy and would be a truly wasted wish

When what I really want is a cat or dog to snuggle

Instead I get an ornament in a glass bubble

So, easy though it seems, it’s really rather trying

Slowly, my desire for wishes is dying

My genie in a bottle, that’s what you are to me

If only I knew myself enough to finally set you free

That is the danger of a wish, do you go with a want or a need? Then again can any wish grant you peace of mind or the feeling of accomplishment that comes from hard work? Being a genie living in a bottle myself :~) have to say my freedom come when someone learns they don't need to make wishes at all. No need to say I like it, I have yet to read one of your poems that hasn't made me think, or touch a nerve or make me take a long look at myself, Well Done My Friend!
