Women

Women

A Poem by Kelsie Stoner
"

Written in a time of my own weakness.

"
Not one thing is sure
Moving through life
So insecure
Always waiting for the ones to stop us in our tracks
Always looking for the ones to save us
The ones to give us reason
To be the ones we want to be
To let go, and to move on
That false sense of security
Can only last so long
Until we're again moving on our own
Forced alone to be strong
They lead us to believe so much
And we give in, like the fools we are
Thinking that the single touch
Can save us from our own demise
We weaken in the palms of so many hands
Playing out roles we thought we had broken from
Thinking that we still can
But bending our wills to their every word
We thought we had beaten time
And found ourselves within it
But with every spoken line
We become but girls once more
Beside every good man is a good woman
And that may be true
But lies a prison beside that good woman
And we're all trying to break free
From the chains we wear
To which they have the key
The chains we wear that tear
Apart our very sense of self
But we do nothing
Just continue to melt
Never letting them think
That they are the core of our problems
They make us fall so hard
With no intention of catching us
Their enjoyment in playing with our hearts
Is almost as bad as our hurry to give it to them
We blame ourselves so often
But never move to change
Tending to believe their pretty words can
Make everything different
But they never do
So we continue, unsure, insecure
Just waiting for you
To love us for who we are

Author's Note

Kelsie Stoner
This is by no means an attack on the male gender, or the female gender for that matter. Just an observation on how weak people in general can become when in love.
