For Vidar

For Vidar

A Poem by Kelsie Stoner

A good man know not his own beauty
Though he has much
He sees it only in the eyes of his love
And it is reflected back to him

A good man rarely knows love that is true
Though he has much of it to give
He hears it only in the words of his love
And it is reflected back to him

That love which he offered to some woman, weary of the world
And at first she could not accept it, for she had seen sorrow
But in his eyes she saw the truth, in his serene smile

And she took that love as her own, in return giving him hers
An exchange of heart's content that one could not only write

This woman, she was a cautious one
As she had seen love before, and it was proven to be false
So used to the lies, she began to use them herself

Only with this man was she saved
A love like his she had never felt
In its truth, she was whole again
Able to return to him the love she had forgotten
