RubyA Poem by TonyaAbout my Great Aunt. Who's a wonderful woman.Ruby I’ve always called you “Uncle” Even though I knew you were a girl Mom and dad tried to correct me, But you never did mind, did you? You always let me play that piano in the den, Though I was never any good. You protected me from your husband, When he cornered me in the kitchen, crazed and deranged. But you never did mind, did you? I heard you went to the hospital, To get a pace-maker put in. I’d cried for hours. I thought I was going to lose you. I’ve lost others, but not you I never want to think about that, But I know it’s a part of life. But, “Uncle” Ruby, Don’t ever leave me before you’re ready. Please? Love forever and always, Your great niece, Tonya. © 2011 TonyaAuthor's Note
