Ruby

A Poem by Tonya
"

About my Great Aunt. Who's a wonderful woman.

"

Ruby

I’ve always called you “Uncle”

Even though I knew you were a girl

Mom and dad tried to correct me,

But you never did mind, did you?

You always let me play that piano in the den,

Though I was never any good.

You protected me from your husband,

When he cornered me in the kitchen, crazed and deranged.
I’d always stay with you when mom had surgery,

But you never did mind, did you?

I heard you went to the hospital,

To get a pace-maker put in.

I’d cried for hours.

I thought I was going to lose you.

I’ve lost others, but not you

I never want to think about that,

But I know it’s a part of life.

But, “Uncle” Ruby,

Don’t ever leave me before you’re ready.

Please?

Love forever and always,

Your great niece,

Tonya.

It's not the greatest thing, but I had to get it off my chest, I guess.

Hey, I saw her the other night. And this is sweet. (:
Does show quite a bit of emotion and the flow runs steady.
