Chapter elevne - past

A Chapter by ShadowHaze

--Chris’s POV
I looked up and stared at the group... They were heading towards a room that looked like a hotel room. After that, everything seemed to in slow motion. Heather turned, and let out a silent scream. I felt something pierce my jacket… shirt… skin… bone… heart… I screamed Alex’s name before I fell sideway, my head hitting the wall, and dropping Alex. Blackness destroyed my vision and I was gone.

--Alex’s POV
My eyes flew open in shock as I was flown out of Chris’s arms. I heard him shout my name, before I landed painfully on my back. The breath was knocked out of me. I didn’t care. “Chris.” My voice was less then a whisper as I fought to breath. I crawled to him, and then screamed. Blood poured out of his back. His eyes were wide, a look of horror on his face. Tears began spilling rapidly out of my eyes, but I blinked furiously. The group rushed forward. I pushed frantically on the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. I gently took off his jacket and shirt, and wrapped the shirt around his chest and back and tied it into a knot. My hands and arms were covered in dirt and blood, and I reached up to his neck to try to find a pulse.
“Please, please,” I muttered desperately. Then I wailed out loud, “Is anyone a doctor??”
A weary looking woman stepped forward and tried to feel a pulse in his neck. I was still have trouble breathing, but I held my breath anyways.
The woman looked up sadly. “I’m sorry honey… He’s gone.”
I was dumbfounded. I looked at Chris again, and leaned forward, and kissed his lips. I had wanted to do that since forever, but now... The were still soft and warm, but it wasn't the same if he had been alive... He would never know I did that. I loved him so much. I slumped against the wall. Chris? Dead? I just couldn’t seem to get those two words together, in a sentence. I pulled my legs up to my chest and curled my arms around my knees. A strangled sound escaped me and I began sobbing into my knees.
A mind touched mine, and I cringed, ready to attack in case my “sister” tried to overtake me again.
“I can help him, if you want,” murmured a voice in my head.
“Who? What? Are you?” I stuttered in my head. I just couldn’t seem to speak full sentences. Dimly I remembered that happened once in 9th grade, when Chris told me that he had gotten a girlfriend, and he thought that nothing else mattered in the world except her.
“I’m the brother of the ghost that just stabbed Chris.”
Hatred flared inside me and I growled, “Go away. I don’t want anything connected with… with… with his…” I began crying earnestly again. “You kn-now what I mean, now get out of here!”
“I’ve waited a thousand years, to help someone, and avenge my brother, by proving him wrong. My brother is evil. He has too much hatred in him. If I can show him what compassion means, I think it’ll break him, and he’ll move on.”
I was still resentful, “What do you mean help him? N-no one can help him now… Go away…”
“I can go into him, and I can bring him back to life. I can give him my soul.”
“But if you do that, he’ll have your soul, not his own. And he won’t l-love me.” Another wave of tears escaped me.
“Yes he will, because I will disappear and he will have his own soul back. All I’m doing is… Regenerating his soul… It’s not gone from him yet, but every word we speak his soul is dwindling away to the afterlife.”
“B-b-but…” I thought for a minute. I wanted him back. I needed him back. “F-fine. You can d-do it…”
I saw something white flare near Chris’s body. I heard him moan.
“Chris!” I flung myself at him and held him tightly. "Oh my god, Christian!"
"You sound like that time in 9th grade." He said oddly. I pulled away and grinned at him. Our eyes met and I felt love for him like I never had before. I put my hand on his cheek.
"Oh, Chris... I thought I lost you..." I closed my eyes, moved my hand, and rested my cheek against his.
"Hey, I'm still here. And I'm alive, but you need to tell me how," he laughed, his body shaking under my cheek. His face was sweaty but it was warm, and the soft skin felt nice against my cheek. His skin felt like his lips, only a little smoother. I laughed.
"What?" he asked.
"Nothing." I whispered into his ear. I pressed my face to his shoulder, kissing it, but so lightly, he didn't realize I did.
"I love you." I whispered, my cheek pressed against his neck.
"I love you, too." he whispered. It was the first time he had told me that, just that 'I love you'. I felt a thrill of delight and my stomach clenched happily. I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed him to me, my body curving aroud his. I kissed him again on the neck, but he still didn't realize I did. I smiled, my eyes still closed.
